In trying to find topics and debates on the whole desktop search topic I ran
across something
interesting. What about a contextual search engine for
television? Binkx.tv has launched and
they say that's what they do. The best I see so far is they can bring up
related video clips that you can play/listen to on your PC that have already
aired. TiVo is very cool in itself by allowing searches of the guide data
and show summaries to find things to record...is this the future? I dunno
but it's a neat idea.
“Rich media, like video, is the next step in the evolution of search from
Web, to desktop, to living room. Using smart, contextual search, blinkx links
users to relevant clips anywhere in the video stream, delivering video content
straight from the television to the consumer’s PC.”
