Browse with Reflector

by Erik Lane 21. August 2007 02:20

Jason Haley gives a few utilities that he uses and finds useful everyday.  Lutz Roeder's Reflector is on the list but not just using the tool - he has "Browse with Reflector".  I've seen this one before but wasn't sure how to add it to my context menu.  Thanks to Jason, I'm all set!

From a command prompt, run Reflector.exe /register" to add it or "Reflector.exe /unregister" to remove it.

Go read his post for some more really cool utilites that he uses.

Giddy Up!

Cool, looks like I'll need to check out his tools page.

One similar thing I always do is set my default program for *.dll files to point to Reflector.exe.  That way, I can simply highlight a dll in windows explorer and hint enter to have it automatically open it up in Reflector.  Obviously wouldn't work for exes, but...  Smile

Setting the default program is a great idea.  Thanks for the tip and that might work even better than ..browse with.

I'm going to do this!  I just installed the 'Class View' Reflector add-in. It's pretty nice.  You can see the reflector code now as if it were in a class (obviously!).  It's nice because you get the color-coding as if it were in the IDE.

Will - I'll have to check out that add-in.  That does sound pretty nice.

That's cool, I had no idea that was there. I've always just added a shortcut to Reflector in my "Send To" folder in my profile.

Hey Yex - I had it setup but after I paved my machine I ended up taking Joey's advice and set dll's to open with reflector and that seems to work just as good.
