F-Lock Key

by Erik Lane 1. May 2006 19:19

Last year I read Jeff's post about keyboards and he mentioned the F-Lock key.  My Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 has this magic key but I don't recall it causing any issues for me in the past.  Maybe it did but I've just forgot about it.  However, this past week I was setting up my new work laptop and as soon as I started writing code none of my function keys were working!

So, I looked around and just thought maybe it was ReSharper or something like that messing with the keyboard scheme.  That wasn't it so reinstalled VS.NET and still nothing.  Somehow, the function keys worked using the keyboard on the laptop and not on my keyboard.....the dang F-Lock key!

Hi Erik

Thanks for mentioning my F Lock page as a way to get around the pesky F Lock functionality.

Just wanted to let you know that I've updated the page so that there is now a method to work around this issue when you are using a USB keyboard (the old method used the scan code mapper, which works on PS2 ports only).

Information is available at the above mentioned website link, or the new link, which is http://jtsang.mvps.org/flock.html" rel="nofollow">http://jtsang.mvps.org/flock.html">http://jtsang.mvps.org/flock.html" rel="nofollow">http://jtsang.mvps.org/flock.html

Enjoy

Jason
