At times my son appears to be interested in what his Dad does for a living. He's very creative in the things that he does with construction paper, Legos, and wood. In passing, my Wife and I have talked about ways to introduce him to programming. Well, since we home school we could build it into his school curriculum or something like that if we found something we liked and something that he was interested in.
Recently Jeff posted about games based on computer programming and even a computer programming board game and tonight I was going through my aggregator and stumbled on Greg's post about Kid's Programming Language. This looks pretty good from just a quick overview and looking and some screenies and the user's manual. The board game does look half bad and its got a snowboarder on it so how bad could it be?
How much is too much and if and when is it a good idea? Our rule of thumb is if doesn't hurt them or someone else and they are interested we'll normally let them give it a try. How else are they going to know what they like when they grow up, right? BTW, my son is 7 and in 2nd grade and an all around great kid. No bias of course. :-)
