Mist, Ghost or Computer Graphics?

Supposedly this is a car commercial that never aired. I'm thinking that it is more probably a very good student project using Computer Graphics.

I watched it while talking to my friend and I stood up screamed and dropped then phone at the same time, she thought something happened to me cause she kept saying my name all freaked out like.  It was so freakin SCARY!!! My friend was way freaked out to.
