PQI i810 USB Flash Drive

by Erik Lane 27. August 2007 22:57
Every other USB flash drive I have ends up in my bag and it stays there. That's not an issue when I have my bag with me but, sadly, I don't always have my bag with me. That has keep me on the lookout for a USB flash drive that I could keep with me almost 100% of the time. For that to happen it had to be one that I could carry on my key chain but also one that wouldn't be a hassle to use or carry with me.

It had to keep these criteria:
  • Small enough that when it was in my pocket it didn't bother me.
  • USB connector had to be protected.
  • The cap had to be built so that I couldn't lose it.
  • Had to connect to my key chain in a way that was solid and sturdy.

The PQI i810 does all of these.

Small, protected connector, and safely connected on my key chain

The protected USB Connector slides in/out

The speed of the PQI i810 Drive is actually pretty good and can be used for ReadyBoost. Because of its small size I take it off of my key chain when I use it and I am extra careful with the connector. These are trade-offs that I can live with and so I'm a happy camper.

Giddy Up!

Hi,

This is an totally unrelated query, but wondering if you could provide me the answer.

In some forum I saw you recommending somebody to use the Wireless WPS54G print server with HP Laserjet 3050 printer. I have a HP Lasterjet 3052 printer and I want to use it with WPS54G print server. Am unable to print though.

As soon as I send out the test page, the printer error led blinks. Then all LEDs go off for a minute and then Ready LED comes on. Looks like the printer is resetting itself.

Would you have any clue on this one?

Thanks,
Niel

Niel -  I wish I could help but but you've got me confused with someone else.  I don't use the WPS54g print server or LaserJet 3050.

Sorry and best of luck finding your solution.

I saw this blog entry back when you first posted it.  The other day I was in my local electronics superstore browsing for a thumbdrive.  I got this one, and I love it!   Many thanks for the heads-up on it.  I might have passed it over if I hadn't read your account of it here.

Oh, and to keep me from having to remove it from the key ring every time i added a small extra keychain - the kind with the snap-in connectors that are quick-release.  Now I just pop the thumb drive off, use it, and pop it back on.

LTW - Glad to be of some help.  I love it and am using more than I originally expected.  I like your idea of quick release key chain too.  Thanks for the tip!
